Smart Building and Smart City
Connecting the city of the future
The contribution that IoT makes to the development of the Smart City through the ability to collect, and then process, valuable data is by now well established. In the wide panorama of possible solutions, a significant space is reserved for applications based on LPWA technologies that can facilitate the collection of information through self-powered sensors. Whether one focuses on one of the main elements of a city, the buildings, or broadens the scope to the entire territory and infrastructure, the 0G Sigfox network enables the implementation of efficient, scalable and low impact solutions.

Monitor air quality
In recent years there has been an increasing focus on outdoor and indoor air quality and related measurement tools. Sigfox’s 0G technology makes it possible to monitor these parameters easily and effectively. The sensors that integrate it are in fact easy to install and do not require wiring or local wireless networks.

Increasing energy efficiency
Rising energy management costs and increasing attention to issues of sustainability and environmental impact require a different approach to building management, whether public or private. The use of inexpensive and easy-to-install 0G Sigfox technology-based IoT devices to monitor consumption (electrical, water, gas), together with the monitoring of indoor environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels, enables the optimization of air conditioning and heating systems while reducing consumption accordingly.

Optimize waste collection
A clean and sustainable city is also the result of the proper management of the waste collection system, whether urban or special waste. Thanks to the use of Sigfox-ready IoT 0G sensors capable of communicating the filling level of bins, recycling banks, dumpsters etc., the utility is able to optimize collection routes and ensure the proper emptying of containers while reducing consumption and CO2 emissions related to collection vehicles.

Monitor the territory
Land monitoring applications (landslides, flooding, etc.) require the use of sensors distributed over the territory, often far from city centers and therefore not easy to connect and maintain. The use of an LPWA network in 0G Sigfox technology able to guarantee long battery life and long communication distances fits perfectly with these requirements by enabling IoT solutions that would otherwise not be sustainable.

Public Green Management
Efficiently manage public greenery by monitoring weather and soil conditions. The combination of such data enables the optimization of activities such as irrigation by assuring savings of up to 30% of the water resource.

Enhance bike sharing services
Through the implementation of Sigfox-ready 0G IoT trackers, thus featuring long battery life and low impact levels, it is possible to integrate bike sharing services with bike location and, in the case of electric vehicles, with alerts related to battery charge status.

Ensure the proper functioning of AEDs
Ensuring the availability and proper functioning of AEDs (Automated External Semiautomatic Defibrillator) can make all the difference in an emergency. Through the 0G Sigfox network, alerts can be received when the case is opened and/or the battery is low, thus allowing for a timely reset intervention.

Monitor structural integrity
The use of a Sigfox 0G network enables the monitoring of infrastructures (highways, roads, bridges, etc.), as well as public buildings such as schools, without complex wiring works, with self-powered 0G Sigfox-ready IoT sensors such as strain gauges and accelerometers. By simplifying the tasks of installing, powering and managing the solution, monitoring becomes easy and scalable.
